Although not a native Cumbrian I have been associated with the site since 1975. In 2001 when the site was a Foot and mouth Mass burial site I was the Defra site manager so know a lot about how the site was managed during that period.

The Directors manage the Nature Reserve to a Business plan agreed with DEFRA (Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and an Aftercare group. The plan is agreed as part of the Notice of Proposed Development (NOPD) set by Cumbria County Council.

The Directors may propose enhancement for the habitats, public access and education provision and raise funds and donations to carry out these projects.
