Staff and Volunteer Instructions for December activities at Watchtree Nature Reserve please do not share this page outside of volunteers and staff


Here’s everything you need to know to help ensure the events runs smoothly.


Event Name – Christmas at Watchtree

Event Date – 7th December


Parking – Ryan is currently putting together a parking plan- parking attendants will tick off cars as they come in, and make sure there is 1 Nativity trail event map (see below) per car given and everyone in the car gets an event wristband.

Please can you ask everyone to make their way to the visitor’s centre as that’s where the event starts.


Activities

  1. Nativity Craft Trail

Encourage visitors to explore our nativity trail please see the trail map below.


  1. Santas Grotto

Visiting Santa– Slots are fully booked for visiting Santa! 

If Visitors have a slot, please note that Santa’s Woodland Grotto is in Pond Wood (please see the map above) which is at least a 15-minute walk from the Visitors Centre. When visitors arrive at the gate to the Woodland Grotto, they will be greeted by one of our friendly Elves who will each group to see Santa. 


  1. Cheeky Elf Hunt Starting from the 7th of December through to January

There are some Elves hiding around the reserve, let the visitor know the elves are on the white-dotted route on their map. (See below)
Maps are available for £1 per participant at the following locations:
On the 7th there will be a Table at the front of the visitor’s centre with Senga selling watchtree gifts, MAPS and PRIZES can be accessed there.

From December 8th of December (when the reserve is open to everyone) maps and prizes will be available from:
Coffee Shop
Wheelers
After completing the hunt, they return to the Visitors Centre to claim their prize (1 per paying person). All they need to do is tell you how many they found.

Ensure participants get their maps stamped at the Visitors Centre to claim their prize.

The stamp goes in the RED circle in the middle of the page (see below). Children can take the maps home to colour in.

Keep an eye on stock levels. If you notice maps running low, inform a team leader immediately.

Smores– Carlisle 18th Wigton Road methodist church scouts will be running this alongside Neil Saunders each person with a wristband gets to toast their own marshmallow and create 1 Smore dessert.
Senga is sourcing additional Veggie mallows and dietary requirement digestives for those with allergies.
On each person’s wristband with a pen strike off if they have made their Smore. (See picture below)


Bike hire will be open all day – For this event is it based on a first come first served basis


Tombola– will be based around the visitor’s centre

The gift stall – will be based around the visitor’s centre area Senga will be manning this.
