Great Crested Newt Night 2026

Led by: Graham Williams (Ecologist & Licensed Great Crested Newt Surveyor)
Join us for a fascinating evening at Watchtree Nature Reserve as we explore the hidden world of one of the UK’s most iconic and protected amphibians, the Great Crested Newt.
Led by experienced ecologist and licensed surveyor Graham Williams, this guided session will introduce you to the life of these remarkable creatures. You’ll learn about their behaviour, the habitats they depend on, and why they are such an important species for conservation. Graham will also share insight into the professional survey techniques used to monitor Great Crested Newt populations.
As daylight fades, you’ll head out onto the reserve to explore the habitats these amphibians call home, experiencing Watchtree in a completely different way as the evening draws in. The session finishes in the dark, adding to the atmosphere of this unique wildlife experience.
Booking is required. Spaces are limited to ensure a high-quality, small-group experience.
