Watchtree Nature Reserve Launches “Art at Watchtree” Project
Watchtree Nature Reserve is thrilled to introduce the Art at Watchtree Project, a creative initiative celebrating the beauty of nature through art. Open to artists, photographers, and the local community, the project encourages engagement with the landscape through painting, sculpture, digital media, and more.
“We believe that art and nature go hand in hand,” said Senga Grave for Watchtree. “This project provides a unique way for people to connect with the environment, express their creativity, and celebrate the stunning landscapes of the reserve.”
As part of the launch, Watchtree is excited to welcome Laura Rutter Art to the reserve. Laura, an illustrator passionate about mindfulness and creativity, will be working on a special project called #WatchtreeMoments, capturing the essence of the reserve through her artwork.
“Illustration has always been my creative outlet—it helps me slow down, play with colours, and practise mindfulness,” Laura shared. “This February, I’m using Watchtree as my creative gym to build my skills, particularly in drawing dogs and bikes. I’ll be sketching, taking photos, and capturing the energy of the reserve to develop into finished pieces later.”
Visitors to Watchtree may spot Laura sketching around the reserve. “If you see me, say hi! I’m always happy to chat and share my work,” she added.
Calling Local Artists! Are you a local artist interested in getting involved? We’d love to hear from you! Whether you’re a painter, photographer, sculptor, or digital artist, this project offers a wonderful opportunity to create and share nature-inspired artwork. If you’d like to take part, please email senga@watchtree.co.uk for more details.
This initiative aims to inspire deeper connections with the natural world by blending conservation with artistic expression. Keep an eye on Watchtree’s social media channels and this blog for updates and to see Laura’s progress.
