Sunday 19th November 2023

Thank you for entering the inaugural Watchtree Half Marathon 2023! We are very excited to be hosting this event. By taking part you are supporting a fantastic charity in Watchtree Nature Reserve and Watchtree Wheelers.

A huge thank you to our event sponsor David Allen Financial Services for continuing to support our Health and Wellbeing events!

Please read the registration and run information below.

The map for the route is available here:

In case of any emergency to any participant, spectator or marshal during the event please call the Event HQ emergency number:

EVENT HQ PHONE NUMBER: 01228 712539

The route will start and finish at Watchtree. The event will be busy and parking is limited so please listen carefully to the marshals who will guide you where to park.

Event Start and Finish

Registration will be open between 9 am – 9.45am. On arrival at Watchtree, please go to the portacabin – this will be signposted, for those who haven’t visited Watchtree before. Toilets will be available in the Visitors Centre.

You can go straight to Registration in the portacabin to the left of Watchtree Wheelers to collect your race number and safety pins if you need them.

Anyone signing up on the day will need to see Steph at the Portacabin to fill in an entry form and pay entry fees. You will need to be at the start line by 9.50 am for the pre race briefing. The start line is a little way up the track from the Community Tree so please allow time to get there. The race will start at 10am prompt.

Please make sure to follow instructions from marshals at all times in the starting area.

When you finish, sprint past the finish line so we can collect your time! You can then go to the Registration portacabin with your number to collect your medal!

We will have a back cyclist who will follow the runners around the route to ensure we know when the final runner has crossed the finish line. If you need to retire and are not able to return to Watchtree, please let us know by calling the emergency number above.

Water Stations and Refreshments

Water stations will be situated on the route at Aikton Village Hall, Woodhouses and The Wellington, Great Orton, with a final station on the finish line at Watchtree. The café at Watchtree Visitors Centre will be open all day from 9am.

Drop Zones will be situated 100m after each station where you will be permitted to drop water cups – these will be collected by our marshals. Please refrain from dropping litter elsewhere on the route.

All runners must read the safety information below:

First Aid and Emergencies

First Aid for the event will be provided by Angela Dobson who will initially be stationed at Watchtree for the start of the event and will move if assistance is required on the route. In the event of a serious medical emergency please call 999 first, then call the Event HQ number 01228 712539 and we will send first aiders to your location.

Junctions:

There are junctions to cross on the route. We have marshals in place (please thank them as you run past!) at each one signposted the approach to warn drivers and traffic that a running event is taking place, and to take care, but please be aware marshals are not permitted to stop or control traffic in any way. If a car is approaching you must listen to the marshal at the junction who will let you know when it is safe to cross. By entering this event you take responsibility for your own safety and take part at your own risk.

Above all, enjoy your run, and come back and tell us all about it when you return! Good luck!
